    Ingredients

    For the dough:

2 cups bread flour (if you end up using all-purpose, they'll still be delicious, just a little less fluffy)

    2 tsp yeast

1/8 cup melted butter (or olive oil)

    1 teaspoon salt

    1 1/4 cup milk

    1 tsp sugar

    For the caramelized garlic goodness:

    5-6 cloves garlic

    1/4 cup olive oil

1/4 c butter, softened (from the fridge is fine, you'll just need a strong fork or something to smash the garlic into it!)

    salt to taste

    1. Mix all of dough ingredients in desired vessel. (bowl by hand, mixer, bread machine, etc) -The dough shouldn't be too sticky, So if it's hard to handle kind of sticky, I would add a little more flour! When you have a nice smooth dough, form into a ball and place in a lightly oiled bowl until it doubles in size (around 1-2 hours).

    2. Once the dough is ready to work with, preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

    3. Grab your 12-inch standard cast iron skillet, and pour 1/4 cup olive oil into it. Place the oiled cast iron into your oven.

    4. While your cast iron skillet is heating up in the oven, grab your 5-6 garlic cloves, peel the garlic cloves and then place the WHOLE garlic cloves in the cast iron skillet. (This will flavor the oil, and also get the garlic nice and caramelized!) Set timer for 7 minutes!

    5. While your garlic is caramelizing for 7 minute, get your dough out and divide into 15-18 individual pieces.

    6. Shape each piece into a knot, set aside until garlic has caramelized.

    7. After 7 minutes, take cast iron skillet out, make sure garlic is nice and golden brown on the bottom, if not, put back in the oven for another 2-3 minutes.

    8. Place garlic on a cutting board to cool.

    9. First off, don't forget your cast iron skillet just came out of the oven, so watch out, it will be hot! Second, grab your dough knots and place about 1 inch apart in a circle around the outside of the skillet, then fill in the rest. If you run out of room, just squeeze them in.

    10. Place hot cast iron pan with the dough knots back into the oven and set a timer for 10 minutes.

    11. While the dough knots are cooking, roughly mince your caramelized garlic (doesn't need to be perfect to get the good flavor) and add to your softened butter. Use a fork to smash together.

    12. After 10 minutes of cooking, take the dough knots out, brush HALF softened butter mixture over the knots. Dust them with salt to your taste, you can always add more later!

Place knots back in the oven for 15 more minutes.

    13. After the 15 minutes, take the garlic knots out of the oven and spread last half of butter and garlic mixture on and enjoy!
